Portable Modular Buildings

The techniques used to construct portable modular buildings strong enough to withstand transportation across the road to the construction site. Because of their quality construction, portable modular buildings also provide more protection against violent force. Some of the best tales of the durable construction of portable modular buildings comes from situations where the portable modular building fell to the ground during transportation or setting the building on its foundation.

But few people ever hear these stories because while they provide concrete examples of the quality of construction in today's portable modular buildings, manufacturers are reluctant to recount them fearing the public will believe these situations happen frequently or that they will have to accept damaged buildings. Neither of these is true but portable modular building manufacturers still resist.

What would be a better testimonial for the quality of construction that a real life tale of a portable modular building falling off the truck as it exits the interstate at 30 mile per hour? The portable modular building rolled over no less than six times before it came to a stop with no more damage than a few drywall cracks and a broken window. Traditional stick built homes would not stand a chance to withstand such punishment so well.

In fact after the cosmetic fixes are completed, it's not really possible to tell that the portable modular home was even damaged. Fortunately, I've only had one such experience in 18 years which should give you a good idea of how infrequently the incidents occur. The customers reaction was even more amazing. After I apologized, I promised to build a new module as quickly as possible because I wouldn't expect the customer to accept a damaged portable modular building but to my surprise the customer said that would not be necessary.

The module still in excellent shape aside from cosmetic damages. After the fix up work was completed, none of us could tell that anything unusual had ever happened. It's now been several years and there have been absolutely zero problems with the module. There's real life proof of the quality of construction in today's portable modular buildings.

This sturdiness accounts for the many stories of modular homes surviving without serious structural damage after being subjected to hurricanes and tornadoes which is something not stick-built building could ever withstand. It explains why a modular motel was found to be the only thing left standing after Hurricane Hugo hit North Carolina.

The US government even sees the value of portable modular buildings. After Hurricane Andrew devastated Florida, FEMA reported that relatively minimal damage was discovered in portable modular buildings. The module to module construction appears to have withstood hurricane force winds much better than traditional framing construction.
